Freelance violinist based in London

I am a freelance violinist and wedding violinist currently living in Mile End (E3), East London. Having studied with Gillian Findlay at Trinity College of Music, I now divide my time between performing and teaching.

I am currently freelancing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and teaching violin and viola at the London Oratory School.

Last year, I completed my MA degree in Kodály pedagogy at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.

Previous to this, I was performing as violinist and singer in the RSC’s production of Titus Andronicus at the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon. UK and European tours have included ABBA  the show, Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds and James with Orchestra of the Swan. As a chamber musician, I have worked with a string quartet onboard Saga Ruby and given solo recitals in venues including St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Foundling Museum, Southwark Cathedral and two concert halls in Japan.

CD’s I have been a part of include: the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan and the Holst Orchestra. Click on the links to hear excerpts of the recordings.

Have a look around my site, and if you’d like to get in touch, please contact me.

Cathy puts on a splendid and varied recital with Stuart at the keys. Highlights include a breathtaking “Lark Ascending” and the completely riotous “Variations on Yankee Doodle” as a finale. Recital in Fulham May 30th 2010- Stuart Hancock
